Ceramics

S20-C3 Wheel Throwing - All Levels
Instructor: Katie Austin
Experience Level: Beginner Ages: 11 yrs. to 13 yrs.

This 8 week class offers an introduction for beginners and continued instruction for those with experience on the potter's wheel. One-on-one instruction and demonstrations will provide the student with definite techniques that allow them to bring their ideas into reality. Instructor will also cover glazing techniques and materials. 
Teens 16+ welcome.  

NO CLASS 5/13

Tuition includes a materials' fee that covers the use of studio tools, glazes, electric kiln firings, and 1st bag of clay.  Add’l clay may be purchased for $30/bag.

NOTE: Ceramics classes are process-based.  This means that sometimes clay pieces are damaged as they are being completed.  If that does happen, refunds are not given, however a $10 credit can be applied towards a future ceramics class.

Each week get to know a Ceramic Artist and make work based off their style.  We will focus on form of pot, surface decoration and glazing.   Materials are included in the tuition.

S20-C2 Handbuilding: Tiles, Vessels, & Forms

This 4 week class is an excellent way to get started with clay. From sculptural to functional and everything in between. Let artist instructor Constance McBride guide you to creating successful pieces. Basics concepts and building techniques like coil, slab, and pinch will be covered as well as other techniques. If you have a project in mind, bring your own ideas too!

In this open studio learning environment all levels are welcome to advance their handbuilding skills.

Write and illustrate your own original short comic with a professional graphic novelist. Participants will learn about each stage of comics creation – from scripting a story to visual narration to lettering a finished page. All the comics made during the course will be collected into a comic anthology!

Materials:

Student can choose to work with traditional or digital media

Traditional media – pencil, Pink Pearl eraser, Pentel brush pen with spare ink cartridges, fine tip pens (0.1, 0.3, 0.5 size), sketchbook or scratch paper, Bristol board, ruler

Digital media – tablet with drawing stylus or laptop with graphics tablet and stylus, Manga Studio or Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
